今回は16歳のYさんの音楽に関する質問です。
What piece do you think you can play the best? I play the electric piano and I love to play “Take the A Train” composed by Billy Strayhorn. (Y. 16 years old)

Hi Y, and thank you for your question. It is not easy to answer this as it’s very difficult to ever feel satisfied with the performance of a certain piece. Every time you have the feeling that it could be done better. This is a process that never ends and always there is something to work on. But there are pieces that I certainly enjoy learning and feeling happy to play. Lately I worked on all the piano sonatas by the Czech composer Lubos Fiser and I love the music. He has 9 piano sonatas. Lubos Fiser died not so long ago in June 1999 and he is well known in Czech Republic, especially for his film music.
I do as well play jazz and I love blues. I have some jazz improvisations on my channel in Youtube that I did for some friends. I also love the song “Take the A train” and it is one of the very first jazz compositions I heard as a child, and I still remember my reaction to it till today. Simply I felt in love with that type of music. I remember my father had the old record with Duke Ellington that I was playing around and around for days.
I wish you all the best and keep playing music. You are lucky to be able to create in sounds.
Best,
Urania
