プラハのウラニアさんからメッセージ（プラハからの便り＊下記）を受け取ったあすなろ学院生とウラニアさんの往復メールをご紹介する第8回。今知る限りの英語を使って思いを伝え相手の言葉を理解しようとする生徒たちと、第二言語の英語を駆使して国際舞台で活躍するウラニアさんとのコミュニケーションを数回に渡り掲載します。以前からお伝えしていますように、コミュニケーションにおいては文法上正しいかどうかより、思いや心を表し、人間同士として通じ合えることが大切です。その観点から掲載する文章にネイティブの校正はしていません。
Hi! I want to travel many different countries in the future. What is the unique point in culture in Prague? Please tell me. (Daiki 16 years old)
Hi Daiki and thank you for your question.
Travelling is very enriching experience and is wonderful that you want to do it.
I hope Prague will be one of the places you will visit, as is one of the most beautiful towns in Europe. Some people even say that is the most beautiful.
In May Prague is dressed in amazing colours, welcoming spring and the weather is getting warmer. A unique place point in culture? It depends what do you like. If you like history, then you can walk from Mala Strana (Lesser town) all the way up to Prague Castle. Is a bit challenging as there are 209 steps to climb, but the views along the way are worth the effort. The Prague Castle is a unique experience with its magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral and the Golden lane, where you can see tiny houses as old as the medieval times.
If you like music then Prague is one of the best places to be. Especially in May – June when the world known music festival Prague Spring takes place. You will have the chance to enjoy the performances of top musicians in Rudolfinum concert hall and operas in the beautiful National theatre. Both theatres are situated on the Moldau river and both are exceptional architectural monuments of the 19th century.
There are museums and galleries that you can visit as well. The National Gallery hosts exhibitions of Czech artist as well as other European artists as Gustav Klimt or Picasso. The National Gallery has these exhibitions in different palaces in Prague so in that way you get to see the building and the paintings at the same time. One of my favourites is the exhibition of Rodin’s sculptures in Veletrzni Palace. This building is hosting modern artists and the building itself is a very modern “palace” of the 20th century.
I could go on and on talking about Prague and all the things you can see and do here, but I hope that one day you will come here yourself and enjoy the unique experience that this town has to offer. Been in Prague is like waking up in a fairy tale.

I would love to come to Japan and hopefully one day in the near future, when life will return to its normal rhythms I will be able to travel again. I miss traveling and life seems to come to a stop during this covid times.
Yes traveling is a way of enjoying life and also a way of enriching our lives and getting to know new people, new habits, new ideas, other traditions and so many things that we can’t have just by being in the same place. So many experiences out there.
I hope you will travel in all the places you want to go.
Is there a particular country that you would like to visit? A place that is on the top of your list?
